Here’s the question I hear everywhere right now: if Democrats take the majority back, what are you actually going to do with it?
It’s the right question. And in Part 2 of our conversation last week, Adrian Boafo gives an answer I think people need to listen to.
Short version: oversight alone isn’t enough. We have to pass things.
Yes, oversight. Yes, investigations. Yes, hold people accountable. But if we get the gavels back and we don’t pass minimum wage, don’t fix housing, don’t touch healthcare, the people who showed up for us are going to ask what the point was. They’ll be right to ask. Adrian put it plain: we get the majority and do nothing for people, we’re going to have a real problem in 2028. Not a messaging problem. A trust problem.
He also gets into AI. Not the usual “let’s commission a study” move Congress always makes when it doesn’t want to act. He’s saying regulate it now. Because we already lived the internet story, we didn’t act then, and here we are. The founder of Anthropic said humanity could be gone by end of decade. That’s not a fringe position anymore. Congress is still scheduling hearings.
On crypto: 65 million Americans hold crypto assets. The President made $4 billion off a meme coin. His family. Money from people who want to undo everything we built. You think that doesn’t need oversight? I don’t know what to tell you.

I'm watching the video. He (Boafo) is part of a "generation who just don't believe in America". It is not the first time. In 1787, Out of 55 attending delegates at the Constitutional Convention, 39 delegates signed. Three of the delegates refused to sign. You can guess where they were from. Believing in America, our Social Contract at the time had opposition, was not universally embraced and again you can guess why...Slavery and the southern economy. The south would be powerless. Two black men talking, and the 32 year old little one sees that lack of belief as a national security risk. I agree with his explanation. Good. "Get something done" Boafo says and uses trump as an example. I have been observing congress and the executive since the late sixties. I also volunteered for the Marine corps and Vietnam. Lyndon Johnson signed the Voting Rights and the Civil rights acts in '64-'65. He got something done and good for him, but he also was unable to figure out why America was loosing the war, so he ordered more bombing, more illegal incursions into Cambodia and Laos. Again, he got something done but it sucked and he threw the southern Dixiecrats into the hands of Nixon and the republicans. That sucked as well. Now we have to deal with those southern racist, Jesus bothering nutcases because the far right wing has taken hold of a political party. The far right does not believe in the America based in laws, justice, liberties, general welfare...progressivism. It believes in wealth, control and power. anyway, Good luck to you Mr Boafo.
